Volunteer Opportunity – Earth Day 2012
Clean Up: Goodnight Irene
We are putting Irene to bed. Help us clean the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center’s Esplanade from the debris left by Hurricane Irene. Supplies will be provided but if you have your favorite work gloves you can bring ‘em. Enjoy some physical “exercise” along the Schuylkill River and be rewarded with a spectacular after party at Barcade (http://barcadephiladelphia.com – 1114 Frankford Ave – between Girard Ave. & Delaware Expressway) where Great Lakes Brewing Co. and Long Trail will be offering free seasonal beers, Earth day prizes, customized Earth Day Philadelphia/Great lakes T-shirts and Long Trail tree saplings for volunteers.
A tour of the historic site will be offered and participants can partake in scheduled programming for our Shad Fest that coincides with the Earth Day Clean Up.
